Understanding the Brain: The Neurobiology of Everyday Life
In order to better understand how the brain works, I decided to enroll in the following MOOC: Understanding the Brain: The Neurobiology of Everyday Life.
The course is delivered by Dr. Peggy Mason from the Department of Neurobiology of the University of Chicago. She may not be the best orator ever but she is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about the subject! During this course, she explains very difficult subjects in a clear and comprehensible way.
The course is structured in a 10 weeks syllabus:
- The Nervous System
- Neural Communication + Embodied Emotion
- Neuroanatomy
- Perception and Vision
- Hearing
- The Vestibular Sense & Gaze
- Voluntary Movements
- Motor Modulation
- Homeostasis
- Abstract Function
This course covers all the necessary topics of neurobiology for a non-professional learner. The material is challenging but extremely interesting.
Very informative and perfectly illustrated (drawings, pictures, microscope slides, and real human body parts), it is really worth the time.
